Fantastic product! This is my editor of choice for ANY type of text file. Even so, need to keep you on your toes:

Bug: SaveAs does not warn when replacing an existing file.

Bug: Format function still breaks lines in unpredictable places, causing validation errors. Any eta on fix?

Wish: Un-format feature. Should pull out all white space between tags, including CrLf's (not between an open & close tag, but between different tags). Optionally could offer to remove...

Formatting problems

I have a large xml file which I created from a large flat file, using LTE translator. The xml file has a size of 123,131 characters (ok, so it's not THAT large). When I create the file using the translator in VisualBasic 6.0, and print the results in the immediate window, it is quite malformed (there is a lot of white space, due to some very large empty fields in the flat file).

If I copy all the text and paste it into xmlHack then click the format button, I get a lot of errors when...

UnFormat Feature

I notice xmlHack can validate and format the loaded xml text. Once formatted, however, the formatting stays. Sometimes you need to get rid of the formatting. Can an UnFormat command be added?

Small Bugs with the application

Thought you might be interested in these bugs:

1) + when there are no files open causes an access violation

2) When "Recent Files" list is larger then the screen capablilities then no way to scroll to files in list.

3) A "Yes to All" and "No to all" button is needed on dialog boxes. For example, I opened about 50 docs that were read only and had to say "yes" to all 50 docs dialogs. A "Yes to All"...

A useful Function?

Was doing some work last night with some Xml Files that I was creating. As I was working I thought that it would be a neat feature if xmlHack was able to remove the whitespace characters from the Xml Document you were working on so you could save without whitespace.

I'm a big fan of small files and looking at space and know that using a lot of element nodes with returns and tabs can make the size of Xml Documents larger than they need to be. Most Editors have the ability to format to...

Small bug in "Save As . . ." feature

When you do a "Save as . . ." from within Hack the path of the original file still appears in the Main Window Form, instead of the new file path. I'm on Build .13 so this might have been noticed and fixed. Just thought that I woud point it out.

Also, as a side note . . .

Microsoft has the "Save as . . ." functionality being the [F12] key. Allaire/Macromedia (another Delphi organization) has the "Save as . . ." functionality being [ctrl] + [shift]...

xmlPimp, good or bad name?

This thread is started to discuss the impacts of the name "xmlPimp". What do you think of it? It's stirred up quite a commotion wherever it's mentioned. It has some rather interesting implecations, both positive and negative.

Before we dive too deeply into this, I recommend reading our WhitePaper which discusses both the purpose of the application, but also the history behind it's name. Also note that this is the development name for the product, and may (or may not) change....
