Inside of xmlLinguist? I'm not familiar with the *.rbo extension. Is that a flatfile extension and you're trying to translate it?
xmlLinguist creates a heirarchical map for flatfiles and currently saves the map with a *.xml (since it's an xml file). We're changing this to save as a *.ltm, so we can associate *.ltm files with the application. So *.rbo shouldn't be used in the File|Open command. In the RUN command, you can choose any file to translate from, and here you should be able to choose an *.rbo file. Is this where you are having troubles with the file? If so, is it in the selection of the file, or after you click the OK button and the translation starts? If it's on translation, could you email a copy of the xmlLinguist Map and the FlatFile to support@sysonyx.com and we'll find out where the exact problem is. Thanks and sorry for any inconvenience, -BKN |

Again, what's an RBO file?
Remember that xmlLinguist is *not*, I repeat, is *not* a Flat File Editor, rather it's a mapper. You map-out what your flatfile looks like, then through the Run feature, you can translate the flatfile into XML. Having said that, we're about ready to release a Flat File Editor that uses xmlLinguist's translation capabilities. One where you *can* open a flatfile, then using an xmlLinguist map, it parses the file and displays it as an editable treeview. You can edit any fields you want (though you cannot add new rows) and resave the file. Here's a screenshot: ![]() Email info@sysonyx.com if you'd like to beta test this application. -BKN |

Hi,
I have the same problem you had before, that is I can not open a RBO file that I downloaded from internet. Did you ever find out how to open such a file? Please advise. Thank you. |

What is an RBO file? | ||
|
I've asked this before, and I'll ask again, what is an RBO file?
I don't know what an RBO file is nor how it relates to xmlLinguist. At a bare minimum, whatever an RBO file is, you should not be trying to open it in xmlLinguist. xmlLinguist only opens *.ltm files. If an RBO file is a flat file, you can create a map for them, then execute the map to translate it into XML, which is done through Tools|Run, but you should never open an RBO file in the xmlLinguist GUI via File|Open. I want to help you with your problems, but until someone explains to me what an RBO file is, I cannot help... -BKN |

What I found About RBO File/s
|
RBO file's are often associated with the magistr worm!
If not downloaded from a trusted or secure source, Do not open this file I've run into it before downlaoding games on P2P sites. NAME: Magistr ALIAS: IWorm_Magistr, I-Worm.Magistr, W32/Magistr@mm VARIANT: Magistr.A Magistr is a very dangerous memory resident Win32 worm combined with virus infection routines. It was found in-the-wild in the middle of March 2001. Magistr virus spreads via Internet with infected emails, infects Windows executable files on an affected machine (local machine) and is able to spread itself over a local network (LAN). The virus has an extremely dangerous payload, and depending on different conditions it erases hard drive data, CMOS memory and Flash Bios contents in the same way the Win95.CIH (aka Chernobyl) virus does. The virus itself is about 30Kb long program written in Assembler, and that is very large for a virus written in pure Assembler language. This large size however is caused by virus Win32 EXE files infection algorithm, email and network spreading routines, polymorphic engines (there are two ones), payload routines and many anti-debugging and other tricks used by the virus to make its detection and disinfection more difficult. Thus this virus is one of the most complex viruses that are known at the moment. |

Re: What I found About RBO File/s

Ah... that makes perfect sense. I occassionally get an email from a mail server indicating that the user that bugs@sysonyx.com was emailing doesn't exist, and yet looking at the email, no one in our company ever sent it. It appears that someone is using our various email accounts (bugs@sysonyx.com, info@sysonyx.com, support@sysonyx.com, etc) as the replyto for Spam emails, and also viruses.
I apologize to anyone who's gotten one of these emails, it was not from us, and unfortunately there's nothing we can do to prevent malicious people from setting their ReplyTo in an email to one of our accounts Thanks Run8ter, I was truly puzzled by this thread. -BKN |

RBO files have nothing to do with xmlLinguist. This is probably not the place to be asking that question.

Correct. They have nothing to do with xmlLinguist and are not included with the installation. If you see one, delete it immediately.
